Rather disappointing experience
Botanical Gardens at Victoria Park的点评
点评：My wife and I decided to visit the Botanic Gardens which are a short distance of the centre and having purchased a 24 hour City Sightseeing Bus earlier, used our ticket to hop on and hop off at stop 12. Fortunately, the driver pointed us in the direction to the path that takes you down to actual Gardens Entrance but to be honest, they could do with much more evident signage both outside and inside the park.
Our first attempt took us the wrong way and by asking a local, we were redirected back the way we had come and we then found the gate and fortunately, purely by chance, I noticed a leaflet holder which outlined a walk to take in a number of exhibits. Once in the gardens we enjoyed a tranquil walk partially supported by the leaflet but we certainly didn’t follow it closely.
Whilst we basically wandered around aimlessly, I felt that it would have been so much better if there had been adequate sign posts highlighting where the various trees shown in the leaflet were to be found and pointing us to the café in the nearby park, toilets etc. We came across a couple of artworks but am sure, there were others which we clearly missed and which would have been highlighted by signs or the ‘map’. The leaflet was useful but we had problems deciding which way to walk at times as in some cases we didn’t actually identify the path shown on the map.
I really do think that this would become a major attraction if it was supported by signs, information panels and some history surrounding the exhibits. Not very colourful either, but that may have been the time we visited, perhaps high summer would have lots of flora to counter the dark tree line. If we hadn’t found the leaflet, we would have lost interest very quickly. C’mon Bath Council, lets see some funds put into this asset.
