点评：A Soleful Botanical Garden and Playground! On our Boxing Day 2025 bus tour of Bath, the Cotswolds, and Stonehenge, we had the opportunity to walk around Bath for a couple of hours. Being that it was a holiday, on the plus side, the crowds were basically non-existent. On the minus side, the Roman baths were closed in Bath, which is the raison de etre for traveling here, but what can you do. As this intrepid writer always does, I took this as an opportunity to see what we could in the time afforded us. This found time led us up some hilly streets to the Royal Crescent, and up another couple of blocks behind that, we found our way to Victoria Park's botanical gardens and children's playground. In the middle of winter, we didn't expect much to be in bloom, but the park had a lot of birds singing and flying around, looking quite happy in their verdant home. Some adorable ducks swam in the little ponds. What delighted us was the giant tree in the adjacent children's playground. As we approached, it appeared to have no leaves, but giant fruit, like papayas or something quite anachronistic growing on its many branches. Upon further inspection, we discovered what was growing on the tree, as the photos below will reveal. This writer would admonish you to keep your eye on the time so that you make it back for your bus, should you be traveling on a tour. We had to really hustle, because we wanted to maximize our sight-seeing time. Anyhow, I am glad I was afforded the time to relax in the tranquility of the nicely maintained botanical gardens.
