点评：Extremely disappointing experience. Unfortunately, this really felt like a case of getting what you pay for.
General admission was $25 per person, and most of the experience consisted of seeing the animals from a distance while being moved along with a fairly large group. The visit itself was okay at best, but the biggest disappointment was absolutely the additional animal encounter.
We paid an extra $20 per person for what was advertised as a “one-hour otter encounter.” Based on that description, we expected an actual interactive experience with the otters. Instead, we were placed with the rest of the group, and a staff member walked around holding an otter while each person briefly got the opportunity to pet its belly as she continued moving from person to person. The entire “one-hour” encounter lasted approximately 10 minutes for the whole group.
If you want additional interaction, such as holding the otter or taking a photo without a staff member holding it, you are told that those experiences are only available through the VIP package—which costs around $200.
I understand that animal encounters need to be structured around the animals’ safety and comfort, and I would never expect otherwise. My issue is with how this experience was advertised compared with what was actually provided. Calling this a “one-hour otter encounter” created a very different expectation from a roughly 10-minute group interaction where you briefly pet an otter being carried past you.
If there is one thing I would recommend based on our experience, it is do not spend the extra money on the additional encounters. The general admission experience was underwhelming, but the otter encounter was by far the most disappointing part because we specifically paid extra for something that did not remotely match what we believed we were purchasing.
Overall, I left feeling extremely disappointed and honestly somewhat misled by the way the encounter was presented. For the experience we actually received, I absolutely would not pay for it again.
