We arrived around 5:00 pm, which is the perfect time to see all the twinkling Christmas lights and to try the food! The Christmas Market is pretty big, spread across a few streets. The ferris wheel is huge and the star of the show. It was easy to walk and the street was lined with shops, also all decorated for the season. Here we tried the Handbrot - a ham (or bacon) stuffed cheesy bread, topped with sour cream. It was delicious. I thought the sour cream on top would be too much, but the tangy-ness of it cut through the richness of the filling. We washed it down with some hot kirsch punch and our daughter had a kids white hot chocolate, both delicious! We shopped through the stalls and let our daughter go on a ride. All of the rides were cute and kid friendly. To walk around the whole thing you probably need about 2-3 hours if you would like to take your time. There was a really cute fairy tale section of the market that was set up with a bunch of scenes from all of the tales, and plenty of cute photo opportunities. Great for kids and parents to stroll though! (Oh, and free)
The highlight of this market (for us), was the waffle. A thin and crispy waffle stuffed with vanilla cream. While looking at the huge bowl of cream, it appeared thick, almost like frosting. But when we bit into it, it was so light and airy and tasted like marshmallows without being too sweet. It was so good! If you are ever in the area during this time, I highly recommend visiting this Christmas Market!
