点评:ristoph is a dedicated host and guide. We spent five days exploring along the Rio Tahauyo, while staying in at his place in the village of El Chino. We were out day and night observing the birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and mammals of the upper Amazon ecosystem. Christoph works hard to get visitors to where the views (including night views) are, whether for black caiman, the hoatzin, squirrel monkeys, or pink river dolphins. The options are many, including fishing, hikes in terra firma forest, visit to the village of San Pedro, and so much more.
I would be leaving out a lot of the experience if I did not add that learning about the communities here. El Chino and San Pedro have worked out agreements for sustainable harvests of game through fisherman's and hunters's/butcher's cooperatives as a part of the management of the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Communal Reserve- one of the Peruvian government's models for its version of National Parks. Not to be missed also is how the locals hand-build their own boats- serious Amazonian Vikings here!
The lodgings are good for adventurous people- guests get a bed with an access to a shower and flush toilet- which is fancy for a village that is far away from civil infrastructure. There is limited electricity for charging devices from solar. The cooking is excellent, with fresh food that features the local fruits and fish.
Christoph also made sure that we had a safe arrival and departure. He offers shuttling from the Iquitos airport to town. He also arranges hotel reservations upon request.
