My friend went in and bought us both a pint but we were not informed that there were no ladies toilet facilities. The lady in the bar my friend was served by replied abruptly when she asked about the opening time of the Stag over the road (we had a dog and were not allowed inside their pub and wished to be comfortable being first time visitors to the area.) She actually told my friend she should go to the Stag and ask herself. After I had finished my beer about an hour later, I politely went indoors and requested where the facilities were for ladies toilets. A man I believe worked there laughed as he directed me to the public toilets which are a fair distance away. He said they were waiting for a plumber - so why were they even allowed to open?? A disabled person would not have been able to access the public amenities as they were so far away.
Yes it’s old as others have stated but having worked in real ale pubs on the IOW that have won awards from CAMRA and can confirm that old pubs can still present as clean … this establishment smelt musty and looked jaded. Had it not been for the bad weather we would not have gone in and I would strongly recommend that ladies visiting in future check that they have a ladies loo before they patronise this dreadful “building”. I can’t call it a pub as I know what decent pubs should be like. Avoid at all costs, hopefully it won’t be long before it is closed down
