Enjoyed the trip, African resident rates for gorilla permit only open 72hrs before trek day

点评：I enjoyed traveling with Jon-Petit. Jon and Sammy have an amazing knowledge of local facts and context for Rwanda. The conversation alone was worth the trip. I really enjoyed the Kigali city tour (included the Genocide memorial), the golden money trek and the Musanze caves upcountry. They handled accomodations as part of the package and were both very helpful and a pleasure to work with.
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda was supposed to be the culmination of a Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda birthday trip for me. Even though we started planning weeks in advance, unfortunately I didn't get to see gorillas. The portal only allows purchase of gorilla trekking permits for African residents 72hours before the day and all the permits were gone by the time the portal opened. What was surprising was that on the day we were supposed to do the gorilla trek (while trying to pay for the caves), it sounded like it was possible to get an additional slot for a Rwandan resident who was enquiring. Not Serenity's fault at all but something to bear in mind planning gorilla trekking, especially during high season (from July).
