点评:This has been the most peculiar experience. I had seen so many images of the Durdle Door that I thought it might be nice to visit it, and we were in the area. We get there on a weekday in August around 6pm - hundreds of visitors, many from India or perhaps the Middle East, some lugging suitcases up and down that coastal path, just a massive stream of people both ways. Clearly the word has spread that the Durdle Door is worth seeing. Local friends tell us that outside of peak tourist season it’s still very nice.
The parking situation is extremely badly organised. There are three parking automatons, one of them broken, so two for a massive crowd of people. There is a QR code as well, but we tried that and it did not work. Others tried as well - same for them, so perhaps not entirely user error. We fortunately paid very little, but if you had been to the official parking lot at Lulworth Castle for example, the fee is cumulative and can add up to around GBP 20,- Not the end of the world, but worth knowing about. It may inform your decision whether you want to join the masses for a 30 minute walk, spend another good chunk of time queuing for the parking machine and then be presented with a sum much higher than any of it was worth paying for.
