Breathtaking Durdle Door – A Five-Star Location Sadly Spoiled by the Behaviour of Some Visitors

点评：We visited Durdle Door on 15 July 2026, walking there from Lulworth Cove after parking for the day. The walk took us around 40 minutes with a few stops and, although I would describe it as moderately difficult overall, there is a very steep hill to climb—something worth bearing in mind, particularly on a hot and sunny day as it was during our visit.
The coastal views along the way are absolutely stunning and make the effort completely worthwhile. The path is generally very well maintained, although much of the surface appears to be chalky stone and can be surprisingly slippery underfoot, so decent footwear is advisable.
Seeing Durdle Door itself was particularly special for us because we had watched Project Hail Mary the previous day, which features Durdle Door towards the end of the film. Walking down onto the beach and seeing this incredible natural landmark in person genuinely blew us away. The location and scenery are unquestionably five stars.
Unfortunately, our experience on the beach changed quite quickly because of the behaviour of some of the visitors around us. There were several large groups of Indian visitors during our visit, and while their nationality would normally be completely irrelevant, I mention it only to describe accurately what we personally encountered. Some individuals within these groups were extremely loud, with persistent shouting that made it difficult to enjoy what should have been a peaceful and beautiful setting.
More concerningly, we witnessed more than one adult man changing openly on the beach with full frontal nudity in view of everyone around them. Our 13-year-old daughter unfortunately witnessed this too. Whatever someone’s background, I don’t think this is appropriate in a busy public place filled with families and children, particularly when it would have been very easy to change discreetly.
We also repeatedly witnessed litter being dropped, which was particularly disappointing at such an outstanding natural landmark. On the steep steps during our return journey, we encountered further inconsiderate behaviour from some members of the same groups, with people blocking the route, refusing to make space and barging past rather than allowing others to pass safely.
I want to emphasise that these comments relate specifically to the behaviour we personally witnessed from particular visitors that day and are not intended as a generalisation about Indian people. Unfortunately, the cumulative effect spoiled our experience enough that we decided to leave the beach earlier than we had planned.
Durdle Door itself is breathtaking and absolutely deserves 5 stars. The walk from Lulworth Cove is challenging in places but incredibly rewarding, and I am very glad we saw it. However, having paid £17 to park so that we could visit both Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, it was disappointing that the behaviour of some visitors had such a negative impact on what should have been one of the highlights of our holiday.
