Worth considering if you are looking at touring the Picos

点评：Dealt with Hector at Travel bike and arranged to hire 7 BMW F750/800s (they are basically the same bike) although due to unforeseen circumstances we only actually needed 6. We arranged to collect these at a hotel near Bilbao airport and after completing the paperwork and sorting some irritating electrical issues we set off with our own guide that we had arranged separately. The weather was fairly wet for our run into the Picos but the bikes performed well and each had plenty of luggage space and comfortable enough for 2-3 hour rides. For the rest of the week the weather the scenery the food and the people we met were all brilliant and I would recommend riding this area to anyone. The bikes were economical and fuel wasn't very expensive and apart from one of our party having a tumble everything went without a hitch. The bike involved in the accident had a BMW assist scheme that detected the accident and contacted us through the bike to check we were ok. We contacted Travel bike who arranged bike collection and a taxi for the rider to return to Bilbao for a replacement bike. The whole thing was sorted and vehicles moving within 2 hours even in the middle of the Pico s so very impressive response from Travel bike. We continued with our trip which despite the accident was a truly memorable experience.
Some points to consider: I needed 2 low seat height bikes and the low seat for those under 5 foot 5" isn't really low enough given the weight of the machine. We managed but I would in future test ride a bike (at a dealer) to check the weight and height.
The extra insurance protection was worth while in my opinion.
Keep a close eye on the weather forecast if you are in the mountains - we did and departed for the coast a day early and luckily missed the snow and ice
A good hire company at reasonable prices
