Good idea but poor maintenance lets it down

点评：On arrival there was no one checking entrance codes and the sign directed us to the cafe, however we could’ve just walked in to be honest. When I went to the desk inside the girls asked to see the QR code but didn’t look at the date (was too small to read as it was) or scan it. Seemed completely disinterested.
We booked on line in advance, throughout the site it repeatedly states it is a cashless site, however halfway through the trail you now require £1 coins to get a ball. I feel this not really fair considering the website clearly states everything is included and it is cashless.

When I asked to speak to the person in charge they gave us some balls and we did return to this area after lunch but this should not be the case, balls were provided in other places so why not this one? While we were there about 1.30pm another family asked where we had the balls from as the machine was empty. i was told by staff it does say on the website about the cost of balls but I could not find it although I did notice a sign on the wall by the cafe later.
All of the basketballs were completely flat, they had clearly not be pumped up for weeks and because they were flat the connect four concept doesn’t work as the holes don’t line up. I made the person in charge aware of this and she said she would send someone to do it. Surely this is a regular maintenance task?
The squirting water bridge was not working when we arrived and we realised the water tap had been turned off so we turned it on and it did then work, the person in charge said it should not have been turned off at all, again maintenance task that should probably be checked daily perhaps?

There were lots of staff (all seemed very young) but most seemed completely disinterested in what they were doing. We had pre booked the meal deal and when I asked what pizzas there were the staff just said ‘it’s on there’ she pointed at the menu, she was certainly not rushed, there were three girls behind the counter at this point. The food was ok and ok value.
The toilets were dirty and smelly and needed someone to go in and give them a tidy up. Outside staff seemed to be none verbal and I didn’t see a single one speak or interact with visitors which was a real shame. They need some guidance from someone in charge who can model good customer service.
I had tried to book the zip line online when I booked but it was not available to book for this date, however on arrival it was in use, a bit confusing. The activities going round were great for the most part and my teens enjoyed it. Not sure what the one with planks on the grass was? See photo it said it was a maze
There was a ‘new cricket game’
Shame it was out of order, maybe a sign explaining why and you are waiting for parts would help(this is what I was told by staff when I asked)
Overall a nice day out but the execution of it let it down, it’s a beautiful setting and a few small improvements at very little cost would make it much better.
