Try the tower tour.

点评：We have visited to the cathedral a few times over the years, it's a wonderful, peaceful place.
We went in for a visit while in Lichfield for an overnight stay and we're very surprised to find the tower tour was on its last week of the year, we booked straight away and looked around for a few minutes before it began.
There are quite a few steps involved as you would expect and there are some small and narrow doorways to negotiate. For me it adds to the experience, a lot of the staircases are the original spiral kind and are a bit worn in places but easy enough to get up and down and there are handrails as well to help.
We had 2 tour guides who complemented each other with their mix of knowledge and expertise. The tour is relaxed with plenty of interesting facts, some of them rather shocking, as various places are reached. The views are superb, it was a bit chilly as it was the end of October but that didn't take anything away from the experience.
Well worth booking, but you are outside for parts of it so it is a bit weather dependent.
