Lovely gardens and old manor house, though the new country house is rundown

点评：Three attractions in one!
1) A very rundown country house.
2) Beautiful Gardens
3) A lovely old manor house.
The Country house is an empty crumbling pile with plaster falling off the walls and gaping holes where damp as set in. Frankly, not very impressive.
But you wander from there through some lovely gardens set in a small quarry that was dug out to get the stone fro the house. Beautifully maintained and quite different, they are a joy to wander though. Finally, an old manor house with a small castle-like tower affording sweeping views across the countryside. (There's a kid-friendly 5-min animation running in the base of the ower that is well worth staying for).
An expensive visit (especially because of the need to pay separately for the car park - they've got lots of space so this felt like a rip-off), but it's a nice and varied afternoon.
