点评:Kettle’s Yard is situated around two and a half miles to the north west of Cambridge station.
I took bus A from the station which dropped me close to Kettle’s Yard.
There was a free exhibition by Zimbabwean artist Portia Zvavahera on show. I enjoyed her colourful works, some of which related to the pain of childbirth.
There was a charge (£5.25 with an Art Fund card) to see the cottages via a timed ticket.
These cottages were purchased by Jim Eden, curator of Tate Britain at the time and his wife Helen back in the Fifties.
They housed his large collection of art and other artefacts.
There’s a huge collection of Alfred Wallis paintings which were terrific. Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Lucy Rie and Bernard Leach also feature prominently.
There is a small Joan Miro painting which apparently the artist donated in exchange for lunch.
I also liked the drawings and sculptures by Henri Gaudier-Brzeska as well as the ‘Flattened Vase’ by Zoe Ellison.
I used the on-site cafe and enjoyed a bowl of sweet potato and red pepper soup with bread & butter and an elderflower Pimm’s to drink for just over £16.
