点评:We visited here as a random choice for somewhere to meet up and look around as a family, not sure what to expect. At first glance the manor itself looks pretty small, and the garden was to be honest a little overgrown and needed some care, although there were lots of interesting plants. Our tour, run by Lucy Boston's granddaughter, started inauspiciously just outside the house with some history of the house itself, but it was inside the house itself that things just got better and better. The original Norman parts of the house can be seen throughout, giving the house an incredible atmosphere. Even though I've never read the "Children of Green Knowe" books myself, the links to the books throughout the house were interesting, and the rooms were all atmospheric - particularly the music room, where the stories behind this made it a quite emotional part of the tour. The patchworks made by Lucy Boston were phenomenal, and well worth the visit. Highly recommended!
