点评:We visited Newcastle castle on Saturday as it was free entry for the day due to being heritage week.
We had wanted to visit before but couldn’t afford it so took advantage of heritage day.
We arrived and used the lift to go up to the gift shop to get our entry. I have restricted mobility. There were a lot of people waiting for the lift. One man walked past everyone and got in and pressed the button and said ‘tough’ to us all stood waiting, maybe there could be someone monitoring the lift at busy times, some rude people about!
We got our free tickets and went over to the castle. We have been to many castles and this was great.
The rooms are empty shells and the whole castle was like a maze with steps and stairs everywhere which was extremely difficult on my legs. I had to take plenty of breaks but once you get to the top the views over Newcastle are amazing.
I noticed there was numbered audio guide plaques around the castle which we hadn’t been told about when we arrived and have no idea how it works. Would have been great had we known about it as would have loved a bit more information.
