点评:After years of looking at the Priory and the entrance fee and thinking “There doesn’t look to be much for that price” we finally bit the bullet and went in. There was a reduced entrance fee as some parts of the buildings are not accessible due to maintenance. They did sneakily add their “voluntary donation” without asking if that was OK, which I think was pretty cheeky.
Staff were all very nice and friendly though.
Being National Trust members and more used to ‘complete’ properties, I did feel that ruins don’t have as much to offer as they leave so much more history to your own imagination. Maybe some people prefer that?
Having said that we were glad we took the plunge, as the views from the site were stunning, and you were left to wander around as little or as much as you wanted.
So a worthwhile way to spend an hour or so, and we can finally say we did it.
However, there’s not enough there to warrant another visit
