点评:We visited with our 9 year old daughter who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 and uses a powerchair. I had specifically checked the website beforehand because they have a big section about disability and accessibility. We already knew she wouldn’t be able to access everything and that was absolutely fine, we are very used to places not being fully accessible.
What I was not prepared for was the attitude of the man working there. He looked at my little girl and her wheelchair like she was some sort of problem and said “you think you’re getting that in here?!”
Honestly, I’ll never forget the way he looked at her. She is a 9 year old child. She was in tears afterwards and I was absolutely furious. It wasn’t about the building being old or us expecting them to magically make somewhere accessible. It was simply the way he spoke to and about a disabled child.
We complained afterwards and didn’t even receive an apology.
I have never left a review like this before and usually just get on with things, but this was genuinely the worst example of ableism we have ever experienced. I probably should have taken it much further, but the reality is we both work and raising a severely disabled child is exhausting enough without having to fight every person who thinks it is acceptable to treat her differently.
Absolutely horrible experience and one that has stayed with us enough for me to finally find time to write the review 5 months later!
