WONDERFUL VISIT TO COUGHTON COURT GARDENS

点评：Sunday 23nd June 2024, My husband and I went out for the day to visit Coughton Court at Alcester, which is owned by The National Trust.
As the weather forecast said it would be a beautiful hot sunny day, we dressed in our summer clothes and enjoyed this wonderful hot day, which continued all day. We arrived and after parking the car we decided to walk round the grounds of Coughton Court first.
We then strolled round the Formal garden with its pristine boarders and lawn; we then went into the Walled Garden and looked at the wonderful flowering apple and pear fruit trees. We then strolled down The Gentleman’s Walk, with its lovely views across the lake towards the church. We sat on a bench and enjoyed the peace and quiet, the sounds of birds in the trees and the sound of a wood pecker tapping on a tree. I found inspiration whilst sitting here and I wrote a poem called ‘This Could Be A Dream’.
We looked at The Bog Garden with its interesting bog plants. Next we strolled round The Vegetable Garden, which still grows vegetables for the Cafe at Coughton Court. We then strolled round the Orchard and we went through a gate back into the walled garden, with its wonderful contrasting herbaceous borders, one was a ‘cool’ border with various shades of purple, blue and yellow and the other was a ‘hot’ border with various shades of red, yellow and orange against the background of a lovely copper beech.
We sat in the lovely hot sun for an hour and again I found inspiration as I wrote a poem called ‘Contrasts’. We then strolled into another garden and sat by a lovely fountain enjoying the sunshine. It was nice to sit and relax and just listen to the trickling water. We then strolled back through the rose garden with its intoxicating scents as it was nearly closing time and went back to the car park to collect our car.
