点评:This was my first return visit to the Herbert in about 10 years. It was a late-afternoon, mid-week visit. It's easy to access, a welcoming environment, and the adult admission price for a non-local seemed fair value and in keeping what I'd pay for similar museums elsewhere.
Great to see Dippy for the first time, and the Godiva gallery was good to revisit but didn't find much else that particularly piqued my interest compared to previous visits. This should not be read as a criticism of the temporary exhibitions, they just weren't my sort of thing but from a social history point of view there's much for others to enjoy.
The cafe was a mixed bag. I'd arrived mid-afternoon so had sympathy for the limited selection available, however, whilst the food and drink I ultimately chose was good quality, fairly priced and the staff very friendly, it was disappointing that there wasn't a clean table (mostly they were cleared, but not wiped down) when there was only half a dozen customers present.
I was advised that I'd arrived in the quiet aftermath of an unusually busy day, so the tables are the only real reason the review loses a star on this occasion; I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt and return in the future.
