Unforgettable Coastal Slackpacking Experience
Garden Route Trail的点评
点评：We did the 5-day Garden Route Coastal Meander with Mark, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The scenery was spectacular – long stretches of unspoiled beaches, fossilised dunes, carpets of bright green algae on the rocks, and so many fascinating fossils along the way. Every day felt different and memorable.
Mark was a wonderful guide – knowledgeable, funny, and incredibly passionate about the area’s history, geology, flora and wildlife. His enthusiasm is infectious, and being part of the scientific community, he gets genuinely excited about new discoveries. It was inspiring to see the coastline through his eyes.
The catering was far beyond what we expected. Mark personally prepared all the meals, making the most of each venue’s facilities. From freshly baked muffins in our lunch packs to a braai, a potjie, and even a fillet over the fire, everything was delicious. Snacks and desserts rounded things off perfectly, much to the kids’ delight!
Evenings around the fire were a highlight – everyone gathered to chat and relax while Mark cooked, creating a warm, social atmosphere. At Goukamma we enjoyed spectacular sunsets over the river as our backdrop, and later the sky revealed the Milky Way in all its glory – truly unforgettable.
Accommodation was provided in comfortable self-catering units, and we never had to worry about logistics or safety – our luggage was transferred for us each day, and the only thing we needed to bring was our own drinks (and in our case, extra snacks for the hikes to fuel two perpetually hungry teenagers!). It made the whole experience completely stress-free.
We travelled as a family with two teenagers, and they loved it too. Mark’s humour kept them entertained and motivated.
All in all, it was a wonderfully run trip that combined natural beauty, adventure, and great company. Highly recommended!

住宿是舒适的自助式公寓，我们无需担心后勤和安全问题——每天都有人帮我们搬运行李，唯一需要带的就是自己的饮料（我们还要带上徒步时准备的额外零食，为两个永远饥肠辘辘的青少年补充能量！）。这让整个旅程完全没有压力。
我们一家带着两个十几岁的孩子一起旅行，他们也非常喜欢。马克的幽默让他们乐在其中，也激励着他们。
