点评:Peak Rail (and it would most likely admit this itself) is not in the Premier League of Britain’s heritage railways. If you visit expecting an experience akin to, say, the Keighley & Worth Valley, the North Norfolk, the North Yorkshire Moors or the West Somerset lines, you will be disappointed. The ride is short but, owing to various to-the-layman complex operating requirements, is slow and punctuated by lengthy pauses. Our trips (a rover ticket enabled two return runs) was decidedly jerky; a 1955 vintage tank engine designed to shunt trucks in collieries, rather than pull carriages, to blame, we were told. To view the best of what little scenery this broad stretch of the Derwent Valley offers, sit on the right side of the train when travelling from Rowsley South to Matlock (and vice versa). In the credit column, the staff were friendly and helpful (special mention for Jo, one of the volunteer train crew), and, to my surprise, nobody seemed to mind my wandering around the engine shed and yard at Rowsley. If plans to extend the line to Bakewell ever bear fruit, thus linking it from somewhere (Matlock) to somewhere else (Bakewell), I imagine it would improve Peak Rail considerably.
翻译:Peak Rail(它自己很可能也会承认这一点)并非英国顶级遗产铁路之一。
