A pleasant and enjoyable visit to the galleries and the cafe.

点评：So much of a reaction to anything is ‘what were you expecting?’. In our case, we visited the Castle as the venue for the art exhibition. We wanted a pleasant visit with the Turner and Landscape paintings as the main attraction. We were very satisfied by that – I thought it was very well laid out and the descriptions of the paintings excellent. In addition, there was useful explanatory context. The other rooms had many delights which we were not expecting because we didn’t know they were there. All in all, we spent a couple of hours in the galleries – about as much as our brains could take. ‘Oh no – not another masterpiece!’. The staff on hand were, without exception, extremely pleasant people and that undoubtedly added to the overall enjoyment. I agree with the comments about school visits – we encountered just one of about 12 children and I agree that the general kerfuffle obliterates all else. Prior to walking the galleries, we enjoyed some nice food in the café. Very tasty and attractively presented – and reasonably priced too. Again – the staff in the café were so friendly and helpful.
