Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery的点评
点评：If you have only a day or two in Norwich, I would suggest spending your time elsewhere. Visit the magnificent Norwich Cathedral, sit in St Peter Mancroft, glory in the city's extraordinary medieval churches, make the floorboards creak in The Strangers' Hall.
Go stand up close to the bronze doors of Norwich City Hall overlooking the market and study the superb relief panels that tell the story of the city's industries and people. There, at least, a very rich history still feels present.
By all means admire Norwich Castle from the outside. It remains one of the great landmarks of the city. But unless you have a particular interest in heritage reconstruction, I would struggle to recommend spending £17 and several hours inside the restored keep. The experience is not so much bad as thin.
My disappointment is not that the castle failed to meet childhood memories. It is that it stole time: the keep has compacted a long and complex history into one sliver of an imagined past and fails to even deliver on that. It will consume valuable time that could have been spent encountering the real riches of Norwich.
If you must go make time for the main collection and whizz round the keep 'experience '.
The keep is a military bunker on a hill, no beautiful windows of light and space, no loving artistry to speak of, no patina of time. For that visit Strangers Hall and St. Peter Mancroft.
