Enjoyable visit despite the mud - early afternoon entry recommended

点评：We visited yesterday for the Christmas themed event. We went as a group of 6 - 4 adults and 2 children. Although we have lived in south Devon since 2021 we haven’t visited this attraction before.
We had an earlier arrival slot 2.30/3 which I suggest as other reviews have said the parking once we’d spent a few hours there looked chaotic. It also meant we missed a lot of the rush and were able to enjoy the food outlets with very little or minimal queues.
The ground itself was decorated with various lights and pretty and then house itself had different Christmas themes to it. The kids enjoyed looking for the stockings as part of a challenge. My tip for the outside would be to bring wellies and a carry bag!
The secret garden was a nice surprise in that there are a few animals for the children to have a look at, we hadn’t anticipated this.
The cafe by the castle is very small and therefore indoor seating was a challenge and with lots of a numbers I can see how this would be frustrating. We opted for the barn and the food vendors - nice mixture of a max n cheese stall for the kids and then some of the adults had the carvery stall. A pork roll with all the trimmings and chips and a side of gravy was £14.50.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves but could see some of the challenges in the earlier reviews and certainly think there could be more made of it.
