National Horse Racing Museum的点评
点评：The National Horse Racing museum is situated in the centre of Newmarket and is around half a mile from the station on foot.
It is housed in a fine building with numerous interesting modern displays and many items of racing memorabilia.
I enjoyed the videos relating to days in the lives of jockeys, both National Hunt and on the flat.
Lots of racing silks, trophies and paintings on view. I liked the overview of thoroughbred bloodlines including the likes of Secretariat and Northern Dancer.
Famous horses from my youth such as Nijinsky, Mill Reef and Brigadier Gerard also featured prominently.
There was an interesting set of exhibits about legendary trainer Noel Murless as well.
Across the road from the museum, in Charles II’s palace, there was a terrific collection of paintings, especially those by Sir Alfred Munnings and George Stubbs.
I paid £7.50 entrance fee with an Art Fund card. Regular admission is £15.
