点评:Tiny island cut off from Bigbury on Sea when the tide is in. When the tide is out you can walk to it, very close to Bigbury on Sea beach. You cannot access part of the Island where the Hotel is as that is private land. Enjoyed a walk up to the top to read about the history is the Island, which used to be known as St Michel de Burgh and then later just Burgh Island. The watching post still stands, where watch men used to tell the fishermen to launch the boats when a school of fish approached. Nice views of the bay and surrounding beaches / cliffs.
The Pilgrim Inn pub has been on the island since around 1336, and serves a variety of ales, lager and even coffee with nice view of the beach. Should the tide be in at the end of your visit, simply hop onto the sea tractor..
