点评:We spent four hours at this national Trust property. Lovely medieval house and huge gardens. Plenty to see , huge woods as well as the quay side location with boats and an informative little museum detailing the quay works and the lime production etc
The mill volunteer lady was lovely and really salvaged an annoying day due to lack of signs.
From the start , car park by the quay, we headed off on what we thought was 'easier' path, nope as steep as Everest and it led to an even steeper path along the road, the very one the first volunteer had told us to avoid.
From the quay car park head right and carry on along the path, less than 10 mins you'll come to the chapel and then up to the house. We did this after the equally annoying walk from the house to the mill. Again absolutely no signage to point you in the right direction. Pure chance we stumbled across another family who also were looking for the mill and after a bit of collaboration with barely mobile phone signals and google maps , we plumped for the over grown path and eventually came to the mill.
As I say the mill volunteer was great. Really informative without being over bearing. Really nice. Sadly the baking lady wasn't so interactive ! Must have had a busy day.
Usual offerings at the National Trust shop and cafes . Really good idea to give the coffee grains away for composting . The second hand book shop was great
