点评：Honestly, I didn’t pay for a ticket into the actual house itself because £22 in this economy is not money I can afford to part with. However, the countryside surrounding the area is lush and there are also several biking tracks through woodland which are also free to access for the intrepid bikers out there. I caught the train from London to Bodmin Parkway (yes, it was an absolute trek and there were several delays but I fancied a rural day trip and got a good 5 hours in), and there is also a pretty and free National Trust walking route from the station to the park. The walk is relatively easy through scenic woodland, but is not wheelchair friendly due to the narrow paths through the woodland. It is also worth noting if you do not walk often that there is a gradual incline as you reach the house grounds- nothing too steep but enough to make me, somebody who walks often, a little breathless and sweaty.
The Park Cafe is large, but was very busy when we visited. Despite the rain, we managed to sit in the outdoor section as most of the outdoor seats are still covered by a roof. I had the jacket potato with beans and cheese, which was £9.50- a little steep in my view, and my family member the vegan chilli. The chilli comes with rice and tortilla and the potato with a small side salad and coleslaw. All in all, despite the slightly high prices on the potato, we felt the food and drink to be decently priced in total. The food also got served promptly- literally five minutes passed and then the food was served, piping hot and with very generous portion sizing. I’d definitely revisit, and you could honestly spend most of the day just walking the countryside- so if you can afford the tickets for the house and will enjoy it, I’d definitely say it’s worth it for a full day out.
