Magical light trail... Absolutely go and see it (if you can afford it!)

点评：I visited the Christmas light trail on the 30th November 2025. I'd give the trail itself 10/10 - it was truly, truly magical! You could see the effort that has gone into it by the company that create the Kew Gardens light trail. For me, the mycelium installation in particular just went above and beyond, but every section really blew me away. The sounds/music in each part added to the magic and, hands down, it was the best light trail I've ever been to! In comparison to a few years back when I visited the Westonbirt one (which I still really enjoyed), it's a hundred times better now. There were also far, far less people on the trail - no crowds or hustle and bustle - which meant I could spend more time appreciating each installment and could take plenty of photos. (I did the earliest slot and got in at 4:15.) It took me around an hour and a quarter to get around the trail, at a slow pace with lots of stops, so it's plenty long enough. Kids of all ages would absolutely adore this but as an adult, I felt all the magic and wonder if it too.
The only downsides were the overall pricing - £8 for the car park (?!) and £3 online handling fees on top of the £25 standard ticket meant things got pricey, fast. Add that to the £8-£10 toasties/paninis (I really disliked the toastie I had as well!) and £7.50 cups of mulled wine, and you could easily spend a fortune here. Nice variety of different foods on offer, but they could do with more sweet treat stands I think. I invited a few other people but they declined, explaining that they just couldn't afford it. As much as I'd love to go every year if the Kew Gardens company continue to do it, realistically it's just too expensive. I think reducing the car park cost and cost of food and drink would help massively and would make it more affordable.
