点评:As a former Cardiff resident, I left aged 10 in 1965!, the Bay was somewhere I hadn't visited since its transformation. This was corrected in August and the Pierhead Building was one of the places visited, the former Headquarters of the Cardiff Railway. On entry I couldn't have been more thrilled. On the left hand side, behind the Reception Desk, is a large poster commemorating all the Cardiff Railway workers who had served during WW1. Looking down the list I found my Great Grandfather's name, he was one of the lucky ones who served and came home. Sadly the lists show who didn't and who was wounded.
That aside, the building is a testament to the wealth of Cardiff back in the day when the coal passing through fuelled the world's steam engines and forges. Local social history is told here as well as the history of the building etc. Free to enter and worth spending a bit of time here.
