点评:The recently refurbished Centre is beautifully designed: it's modern, light and graced by imaginative artworks and décor. Each room presents interesting and informative exhibits, including artefacts and poignant recordings of some of the islanders themselves. We felt the amount of text on each information board was well-judged: it didn't overwhelm or bombard you with too much detail and there were plenty of photographs. There's a comfortable movie-theatre where an evocative short film gives an insight into the life of the island community and its ultimate decline owing to de-population. A path leads to a viewing platform from where you can see Great Blasket Island, giving context to the whole museum experience. The café is a pleasant place, with large windows and a lovely view, serving an excellent range of food and drinks. The bookshop has a good selection of relevant books. I asked a very helpful member of staff to recommend a title if I wanted just one book to inform me about life on Great Blasket, preferably written in the first person. She suggested "Twenty Years A-Growing" which has proved to be an excellent read. I can't recommend The Blasket Centre highly enough: it's a fascinating and beautiful museum in a stunning location: you could easily spend the best part of a day there to do it full justice.
