Apples galore and not one available to buy

点评：We had quite a walk just to get out of the car park as it was very busy, even on a Thursday in October.
Then there is the very, very long walk to the house. We walked around the rooms we were allowed in but considering the size of the house, the rooms available to view were very restricted. Essentially, mostly a few rooms on the ground floor plus a few others.
The gardens have a huge range of apple trees growing, and as I have apple trees myself, I was very surprised that the apples were still on the trees at this time of year, I picked mine weeks ago and I live in the North of England. One tree was absolutely weighed down by apples as they had not been thinned out, there was a cluster of about 12 apples all together, clearly they don't thin the apples to get the best of the crop.
It doesn't look like they use the apples or even sell them. Its a real shame as I would have liked to have bought some of the unusual apples to see if I might be interested in growing that variety at home. I mentioned this to the people at the car park and they said it was something they should have considered for the autumn display that they recently had. Clearly no communication around the property.
Despite this, the gardens had staff pruning and weeding, just ignoring the bounty on the trees. What is the point of planting such a variety if you don't do anything with them?
Thankfully there is an electric vehicle to take people back up the hill, sadly, this only carries 5 passengers so my husband had to walk back rather than wait for the next one.
Generally, a bit disappointed, could have been much better.
