Beyer Clock and Watch Museum的点评
点评：The Beyer Clock & Watch Museum is a great stop in Zurich if you’re interested in clocks, watches, history, or just looking for something a little different to add to your Old Town itinerary.
Beyer has been making and collecting timepieces since 1760, and the museum takes you through the fascinating history of timekeeping. Their collection includes everything from ancient timekeeping devices to intricate mechanical clocks and watches — including some of the earliest pocket watches from the 1500s.
One of the oldest pieces that caught my attention was an ancient Egyptian water/overflow clock dating to around 1425–1380 BC. It’s pretty incredible to stand there looking at something that old and think about how people were measuring time thousands of years ago.
Hubby absolutely loved seeing all the clocks and timepieces and was in his happy place. 😂 I was more fascinated by some of the unusual ones — especially the clock with a cannon! Because apparently I need a clock with gunpowder. 💥⏰
👍 Helpful tip for English-speaking visitors
The museum provides an iPad/tablet with English descriptions for the exhibits, so you can learn about what you’re seeing. I also used Google Translate’s camera feature — just held my phone over the descriptions and translated them into English. Super easy and worked really well.
The museum isn’t huge, so it’s an easy addition to a day exploring Zurich’s Old Town without taking up hours.
And, of course, I couldn’t leave without a souvenir… I bought a sundial ring! ☀️💍 Now I can tell time the old-fashioned way. 😂
Definitely worth adding to your Zurich itinerary, especially if you enjoy history, watches, clocks, or unique museums. 🇨🇭⏰
