Fascinating Little Castle with great views

点评：This small but atmospheric castle is well worth a visit if you are a history buff. It is in a stunning location, is full of fascinating nooks and crannies and has a very interesting history. I was the only visitor on the day I went and really enjoyed exploring the site, which took me about 45 minutes. The admission fee of £4 seems reasonable and the guy in the ticket office was friendly if not forthcoming about the history of the place.
On the downside, there was no guide book, and some of the interpretation panels inside are so damp and moldy that you can't read them. That was disappointing as it means you only get a partial view of the history. The toilet block was very dirty. I came away thinking the castle deserved better! I'd give the castle itself 5 stars but the visitor experience only 3.
