点评:Have been here 8 or so times. Sadly the horse is roped off now to minimize erosion and as of 2016 one could still walk on it. The car park is big but there are no loos. One has to use the pub in Uffington or go to Wantage, this site is no good if you have members in your party who need regular loo visits. The horse is easily accessible across two sheep fields but be warned, it's not that visible from the gate. One can never really see the head or forelegs. It's not much better from Dragon Hill. The best view we found is 4 miles away at Farmer Gow's where with decent binoculars one can just about see the whole figure. Archaeologists suspect that the figure has crept up the hill over 3000 years but with effort and the right angle it can still be seen from Faringdon. The landscape is incredible, rolling hills formed by glaciers and the Ridgeway path is close by. Waylands Smithy is one mile from the horse and very atmospheric... But not on a bank holiday weekend in August. Go in Winter or at dawn. People find the horse disappointing but it's common knowledge how difficult it is to see it. That's part of its mystery. I love it.
