点评：Visiting Imperial War Museum Duxford was one of the most impressive museum experiences I’ve had in the UK. Located just outside Cambridge, this isn’t a typical indoor museum — it’s set on a historic airfield, and the scale of what’s on display is extraordinary.
The site is made up of several large hangars, each focusing on different aspects of aviation and military history. You can see everything from iconic Spitfires and Concorde to massive American bombers and modern jets. Being able to walk right underneath these aircraft really gives you a sense of their size and engineering — something you simply don’t appreciate from photos alone.
One of the highlights for me was how immersive it feels. You’re not just looking at static exhibits; you’re standing on a working historic airfield with original buildings and runways. If you time your visit right, you may even see aircraft taking off or landing, which adds another dimension to the experience.
From a practical point of view, you need to allow plenty of time. The site is huge, and it’s easy to spend several hours exploring the different hangars and exhibitions. Comfortable shoes are essential, as you’ll cover quite a bit of ground moving between buildings.
