点评:We visited on a day that had drizzling misty rain, and I think the visit would be more enjoyable had it been dry, but overall was nice. There were not many people there. We walked through the abbey, church and gardens. The gardens were mostly just green, no colorful flowers in December. I’d be curious what it looks like in a warmer season. We walked the whole way to the gardens but took the shuttle back. It was quite a walk. The cafe and gift shop at the gardens was not open.
Nothing was spectacular but the view of the abbey across the pond was very beautiful. The best part of the visit was the food. We each had ham and cheese quiche and some potato salad. That was the best quiche I’ve ever eaten and you can bet I googled trying (unsuccessfully) to find the recipe. It was a picturesque drive getting there, and that in and of itself made the drive with it. They have a very large gift shop at the entrance with everything imaginable.
