点评:Visited on a cold November day. Signage from the carpark to the museum is poor - we directed several people to the entrance on the way back to the carpark.
We went on the Alliance submarine tour with Andy as our guide. Said he wasn’t going to get all ‘wokey’ by referring to the ‘men on board’ but there were no women allowed on board during the period the sub was in service. Really? Just say that women were not able to serve as submariners at that time. Proceeded to tell us ‘ladies’ that the kitchen was further down the boat which we would be interested in! If I was a young person, particularly female, and interested in joining the RN, this would be enough for me to reconsider. What message is this man sending with his overt sexism. And of course, he also felt it right to pass on his opinion of the sinking of the Belgrano in the Falklands war. I must add that the guide on The Victory was professional and not patronising or condescending to women, so perhaps Andy needs to be properly ‘retired’.
