点评:An over due visit to Romsey and the Abbey . Despite my family living closish by never visited . It was a very pretty little town supporting local independent traders. The Abbey is a lovely backdrop drop to the town . Sadly we had just missed the fair that was being held in it ( so not to go back next year!). The stewards were very pleasant and wanted to make your visit worth while. There is a free pamphlet explaining the layout of the abbey and history of it the foundations date back to 907! They hold tours too.
Despite a lot of hustle and bustle of packing the fair up it was very serene and “ peaceful “. There is a gift shop / book stall too of which we made purchases.
They hold music concerts there which we will look into to. There is an affiliated museum and a tourist info that might be helpful . We had a refreshments in a local department store ( which is a rare thing these days!)
