点评：Budanilakantha Temple in Kathmandu is a very unique Temple which is open to air and Lord Mahavishnu, to who the temple is dedicated is in a reclining posture, holding the Sudarshan Chakra and the gem. The main idol is carved out of a single block of basalt stone. It is Nepal’s largest stone carving. The statue is about 15 feet and lies in the center of a fenced pond. One can only watch and get Darshan from beyond the walls.
While I found that Kathmandu in general was very clean and tidy, with no garbage lying around, the vicinity of this Temple is not very clean. Possibly because of the crowds that throng to the Temple. We visited the Temple on a hot July afternoon, and I do think the experience would have been enhanced had we visited either early morning or late evening. But when you get to the pond, it is a very different feeling. The idol is very attractive and distinctive. If you are in Kathmandu this Temple is a must-see. It is located about a half hour drive from Thamel so you only need an hour and a half to visit
