点评:Absolutely excellent tour of the follies surrounding the grounds of St Endas Park given by OPW Guide Rory yesterday Sunday 24th Aug as part of Heritage Week. Rory was so knowledgeable and made the tour positively enjoyable with his gentle banter and calm manner. It took an hour, Rory had the key to ooen up the entrance door of 2 of the follies to show us the interior. Amazing, a MUST SEE. TIP: Collect a brochure from reception in the Pearse Museum first on the follies which gives guidance on the best route to walk around the park so you dont miss any of them. A 'follie' is basically a costly (at the time) ornamental little structure/building with no practical purpose eg a tower or mock hermits cave. As in this case they can be built into a park. Its basically a conversation piece for the lady/gentleman or child strolling around the park and a play area or the children too. Hope you enjoy the trip as much as I did. Thanks Rory.
