I cannot believe they built the place so close to an airport..........
温莎城堡的点评
点评：The castle itself is stunning, with fantastic views of the surrounding areas in places. The exterior and grounds are clean, well kept and extensive.
The interior (what you see of it) again is clean and well presented, but looking a bit rough around the edges. I find it hard to believe that in St Georges Chapel people are free to walk over historic graves at will, very soon the inscriptions will be unreadable.
As you would expect there are a number of gift shops, all selling roughly the same items at eye watering prices. There is also a cafe where a piece of cake would probably cost less at the Savoy. £21 for a coffee, a lemonade and two small bits of cake is right royally expensive.
It can get crowded, with the wait time for us to see the dolls house being around thirty minutes, so get there nice and early. As others have said there seems to be little effort made to control crowds. Woe betide you try and take a photograph inside, it's straight to the dungeons.
The staff at the castle were all well dressed, polite, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about its history. The guards are real, please don't try to get too close or annoy them, they stand there for two hours at a time with a face full of tourists, so they can get grumpy and will defend themselves.
A great place for a spot of aircraft spotting as flights into Heathrow pass over really low (see photos).
I can't say any more really than the previous 1461 reviews, but, it's well worth a visit, be prepared to pay, ask about the history, eat before you go in, don't upset the guards, take your time and get in early.
