点评:I was very pleasantly surprised to stumble across Askeaton, a small charming village, just off the N69, not far from Limerick. The ruined Norman castle is presently being refurbished by the OPW and is already regaining much of its former glory. The nearby Franciscan Friary is in a much better state of repair and much of its architectural features are still intact. It is perhaps one of the most intact friaries in Ireland.
Anthony Sheehy, a local guide gave a wonderful tour of the Friary. Anthony's knowledge of the history and architecture of the building is very impressive. But it is his love and passion for this place that makes the whole building come to life as he informs of its ancient past. I must have been on the tour for over an hour and it only seemed a short time. Well done, Anthony
