点评：After paying over £30 for our family, we were told to go round the corner to where a tour had just started. A very rude elderly gentleman was apparently the face of Vikingar and our tour guide. He was very unhappy to see us (two children, three adults) and complained to us about 'people being sent round to him when the tour had already started', then apologised to the group of people already assembled for the 'interruption' - that was us! What a welcome to Vikingar!
This was just the beginning of an excruciating experience, where we were all subjected to a barely-audible dry ramble about life in a longhouse then allowed a few minutes to try on helmets if we wanted but to 'be ready to return to our places immediately when instructed!'
Three further scenarios followed, with a brief film about the vikings in Scotland. Largs has a tremendous history with its link to the Battle of Largs and the film was very interesting - I actually learned from it. This was the high point of the visit.
The whole experience, though, was spoiled by a tour guide who seemed to be very inconvenienced by people actually being there.
What a missed opportunity to present Vikingar with enthusiasm and energy and to involve everyone (especially the children, who were particularly bored by the grumpy, lacklustre presentation) in a hands-on, exciting experience!
I sincerely hope that other Vikings are available!
I will not be back.
