Do NOT be put off by the signs on the gate!

Wonderful, large abbey in excellent condition.
This is a great destination and you could easily spend an hour mooching around. The site itself is ell-maintained and safe. It's in a lovely location near a sea inlet and has a stream running under the abbey.
As stated in other reviews, you can access the upper floor via a stone staircase and is well worthwhile. Overall - a really lovely, peaceful place.
OK - access. There's very limited parking on the road, but safe enough for a couple of cars. Th farmer must have had bad experiences with previous visitors, because there are several very unwelcoming signs on the gate. Provided to treat the land as private property (NO LITTER!), you can safely ignore the signs. THERE IS NO BULL!
In wet weather, you'll need boots or wellies, as you must walk down a somewhat muddy path and over a couple of stone stiles to reach the abbey. It's worth it!
So, a lovely place, spoiled by a very unhelpful farmer.
