月球环形山的点评
点评：We saw four of the geothermal sites between Taupo and Rotorua. Craters of the Moon, closest to Taupo, was the first. It can easily be seen in conjunction with Huka Falls. I particularly appreciated the 9:30 am opening (earlier than most) which made visiting very easy, the lower prices and the senior discount even for overseas travellers. It had excellent explanatory boards including about botantical issues.
While more low key than the other thermal parks we saw later this day and on the next, it had its own charm, aside from being value for money. The walk takes about 45 minutes along a flat well-signposted path with a 15 min diversion for a lookout ridge track. There are multiple craters (a couple which are mud) with good viewpoints and everywhere on the walk you can see the steaming from them.
Particularly if you are in Taupo this is quite well worth a visit! My husband rated this his 2nd favourite of the geothermal sites we visited.
