元町天主教教堂的点评
点评：One will not miss the high-rising minarets and Gothic architecture style building, and even the lovely stained glass of the beautiful Church from a distance. We walked up the Daisan Zaka slope to have a closer look of this Motomachi Catholic Church which was started by a French missionary way back in 1867. An eye-drawer is a rooster at the top of the octagonal tower (wind vane?) which is 33 metres in height. This rooster supposedly serves as a guardian.
There is no admission fee to enter the church though photography and videography are prohibited.
The church was one of the earliest post Tokugawa catholic churches to be founded alongside Nagasaki and Yokohama. We were here on 2 late-evenings but unfortunately it was already closed so we missed the opportunity to have a view of the inside, the altar and grandeur, Still I made a simple quiet prayer outside, for a smooth journey and safe trip back SG..
