点评:Its very challenging and costly to maintain a zoo, unless you are a super rich country and there's a lot of supporting agencies and public/corporate donations coming in all year round.
The animals here are at a considerable health and i was told that lots of biology graduate will help out in the zoo from time to time as interns, which help to cut the operating cost and ensure the animals are healthy. Apart from zoo taiping, these students might also go to orangutan haven in bukit merah or tambun waterpark zoo as interns.
However, the worn down infrastructure and the lack of activities (even the mascot has no employee to wear the suit) is noticeable. I guess after 2+ years the current gov is pretty much similar to the previous ones and will continue to not help out one of the signature zoo in Malaysia.
Hopefully more companies will contribute/donate to the zoo on a steady basis as a part of community service, without sacrificing doing CSR at schools.
