Nene Valley Railway的点评
点评：This review is about a specific event at The Nene Valley Railway and not a normal running Day.
We travel the country visiting Heritage railways, we are not die hard enthusiasts A loco is a Loco, we go for the experience and the Overall ambience, which the Nene Valley get 5 out of 5 for providing on this occasion.
Pre event advertising was average any questions we had were speedily answered via email.
Directions and signage to the site were clear even for non locals ( we travelled 200 miles to get there)
Carparking was ample and well maintained at Wansford station.
The station and rolling stock ( ignoring in restoration and pre restoration vehicles) was well maintained and very clean.
Toilets clean and well stocked and plenty of them.
Cafe's and food outlets were wells stocked, reasonably priced and staffed by enthusiastic people.
Gift shop was aimed at the younger visitor but there is a charity shop and Keith's emporium in the carpark.
Stations : Wansford, very clean well staffed 10/10 has café and a kiosk. 2 different Toilet locations
Overton Very clean well presented, well staffed 10/10 has a café
Orton Mere: In an unfortunate location under a flyover. Unstaffed except signal box, signal box has been graffitied. 7/10
Peterborough Nene Valley, undergoing restoration Large carpark £3 charge.
Unstaffed at time of visit, 9/10
Rail world next door looks very run down and although not associated can be mistaken for part of the railway.
Costs: Very reasonable for a heritage Railway, superb for an event such as this.
Volunteers , all smartly presented, cheerful and enthusiastic.
How does it fit in with the community : 9/10 Most of the community were waving at the trains and realize how it brings money into an area.
Some abuse shouted at the train we were on by 3 Golfers waiting to cross the line with their golf trollies.
Event, well planned and executed. With a great array of events and attractions, and add on's. Must be Disappointing for the Railway that it had a low turnout after all the effort has gone into preparing and planning.
Overall a 5 out of 5 for a first attempt at this type of event. I hope that in future it becomes popular and a regular event for you.
